Most brides are conflicted when it comes to flowers – do you go with real flowers and pay the extra or do you go with fake for a cheaper price at the expense of looks? We have compiled a list of pros and cons for each. We hope it helps you to make your decision.
Arguably the greatest thing about real flowers is the smell. Not only do they add a pleasant scent to the area, they are pretty and look great in pictures. However, they come with a heavy price tag. If you are really worried about cost but have your heart set on real flowers consider reusing flowers. After the ceremony is over use the bouquets in centerpieces at the reception. Another important consideration is flower petals for the ceremony. If you would like flower petals to litter the path as you walk down the aisle, real flower petals are the only way to go.
Fake flowers get a bad rep. Most of us think fake flowers and immediately picture tacky vases and very obvious fake flowers collecting dust, but it’s not true anymore. Today there is a large variety of fake flowers to choose from, some of which look real and can actually be scented to smell like flowers, but be careful in your selection, some varieties of fake flowers can be just as expensive as real. There are benefits though. You can get fake flowers of any type at any time of the year so you don’t have to worry about them being in season. When the wedding is over you can keep the flowers and use them in your home or store them as keepsakes to commemorate your special day. To top it all off they work in any weather conditions. You don’t need to worry about these wilting in the hot weather or freezing in the winter.
At the end of the day, only you can decide which option is best for you. If you want real and cannot afford the price tag consider using a mix of both. Use fake flowers on bouquets where guests aren’t going to be getting too close and real for the reception. As always, real flower petals are the only type we allow to be sprinkled out for the ceremony area.
